Peligros y preocupaciones<\/p>\n

Si bien este sitio web no est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado como una gu\u00eda para excursionistas y mochileros, sabemos que algunas personas tomar\u00e1n nuestros puntos de referencia, los convertir\u00e1n y los cargar\u00e1n en sus unidades GPS y luego saldr\u00e1n por el Camino real. Desde el momento en que comienza una caminata en el desierto, tambi\u00e9n comienza un cron\u00f3metro. Esta es la cantidad de tiempo que un excursionista tiene para llegar a su pr\u00f3xima fuente de agua. Solo podemos transportar tanta agua, y cualquier cosa que retrase el acceso a la siguiente fuente de agua es un peligro. Si bien un esguince o fractura de tobillo, en s\u00ed mismo, no pone en peligro la vida, detendr\u00e1 o retrasar\u00e1 a un excursionista para llegar al agua. Consideramos que este es uno de los mayores peligros de las caminatas por el desierto y, dado el terreno accidentado del antiguo sendero de las misiones, tener algo como esto es una posibilidad real. Las picaduras de escorpiones, las mordeduras de serpientes de cascabel y perderse tendr\u00e1n el mismo efecto.<\/p>\n\t

Over the years, the only people we have seen on the trails were a handful of ranchers and no hikers whatsoever — so don’t expect help nearby. We have always carried a personal locator beacon with us; however, we have also understood its limitations in a region that may not have the resources to respond. For us, the best solution was to have a backup plan which would include alternate routes back to safety, the location of inhabited ranches and all sources of water in the area of hiking.<\/p>\n

Si bien nunca hemos visto a traficantes de drogas o personas que parec\u00edan ser traficantes de drogas, personas confiables que hemos conocido a lo largo de los a\u00f1os nos han advertido sobre este posible problema. Nos han dicho que el \u00e1rea justo al norte de Misi\u00f3n San Borja, el \u00e1rea al sur de la Bah\u00eda de Gonzaga y la regi\u00f3n alrededor de Misi\u00f3n San Fernando son \u00e1reas de preocupaci\u00f3n. Desde Diciembre del a\u00f1o 2021, nos han dicho que hay narcos al sur de Misi\u00f3n San Borja. Utilizan fuentes de agua para cultivar plantas ilegales. Esto podr\u00eda extenderse potencialmente a todas las partes del sendero que tienen fuentes de agua confiables.<\/p>\n\t
